Miss Chevon Found Her Forever Home~!

Chevon is a 7 year old, very overweight girl who came to us way back at the end of March.  She was not happy, did NOT get along with any of the other kitties & rarely left her cage when volunteers came in to care for the kitties.  She would growl & grumble at the other kitties & volunteers.  We were all getting concerned that she would have a very hard time finding her forever home.  Not only was she an older kitty, but she was very overweight & her attitude was not exactly friendly.   None of which made her a prime candidate for adoption.

After a couple of months, she finally began to come out of her cage more & more.  She quit growling at the other kitties (except for Benji, but that’s another post).  When we got some kittens in for an adoption event in June, those that weren’t adopted over the weekend stayed with us. She began to watch them play from a perch on the cat tree.  Then, miracle of miracles – she began interacting with them!

The Wednesday morning volunteer – Sheri – called me one day to tell me she watched Freckles (a 5 month old kitten) go into her cage & start eating her food (none of us can figure out why, but all the kitties try to eat her diet food – really?).  Sheri held her breath waiting for Chevon to flip out & chase him out of her cage.  But she didn’t.  She licked him on top of his head instead!

It was truly a turning point for Chevon.  Every time, almost, a volunteer came in to let the kitties out to play, Chevon would join them.  We all were so happy & relieved to see her finally become the sweet kitty we knew she could be.  She would sit on the second shelf of the cat tree (amazing she could jump that far!) & watch the kittens play.  Sometimes, she would play with them or by herself – which she had never done before.  She began letting some of the volunteers brush her & clean her in places she couldn’t reach because of her size.

Chevon has finally found her forever home with one of our sweet volunteers – Mindy! YAY!

Mindy took her home Friday evening to be a companion to Lily, who she adopted from TLC at our location about 5-6 months ago.  Mindy’s family recently lost their 15 yr. old FIV+ kitty & now Lily ( AKA Precious) is all alone.  She sent pictures of “The Queen” – LOL~!

SO HAPPY FOR CHEVON!!

Enjoy your new forever home sweet chubby girl!

We Have 2 Adorable New Babies – Joey & Julie!

These two sweet little balls of fur came to our location on Tuesday.  Aren’t they adorable??

Joey is a sweet little purrball – every time you hold him he turns on the motor!  He & Julie love playing chase with each other & anything else that moves.  It’s non-stop playtime when these two are out & about!

If it’s been awhile since you’ve had a kitten, it’s easy to forget how much energy they have and all of the things they can get into.  Kitten-proofing their environment is highly recommended!  When they are this small, it is very easy for kittens to play or hide in spaces around your house you might not consider.  Also, remember that kittens are extremely curious.  Everything is brand new to them!  They are exploring their world.  It’s up to you to make sure their world is a safe place for them to play.  That’s another post!

Better stop by & visit them soon because these 2 sweet babies won’t be waiting long for their forever homes!

Joey & Julie’s adoption fee is $100.

We offer a special rate of $150 when adopting 2 kittens age 8months or younger together!  Double the fun!  Plus, they will keep each other busy and have a playmate with the same energy level.

Sweet Jinksy Found His Forever Home!

Sweet Jinksy found his forever home on Friday!  ~YAY!~  He’ll have 2 other (soon to be 3 after today) declawed kitty housemates and a nice big house to roam and play!

Jinksy’s new Purr-Parents are also adopting Aaron from the main Ten Lives Club shelter today!  Aaron is a very sweet, friendly 8 to 10 year old declawed boy who weighs in at a hefty 20 pounds!

This wonderful family has always preferred to adopt kitties who are “special” and generally the hardest or last to be adopted.  Since Aaron is a “senior”and slightly overweight, he most definitely falls into the “hard to place” category.  Why?  Because of his age.

Older kitties are harder to place even though cats can live 20+ years.  People generally want to adopt a cat that isn’t much older than 4 or 5 years old at the very most.  Or they want a KITTEN.  Or they want a certain color, breed or sex.  Aarron is your basic, “run of the mill” black and white domestic short hair kitty who would easily be overlooked in a roomful of other kitties competing for attention.  As soon as I sent them pictures of Aaron, they had to meet him!  He obviously worked his kitty magic since he’s going home with them today!

SO HAPPY FOR THESE 2 SWEET BOYS!  ALL OUR LOVE GOES WITH YOU!

Miss Mary Found Her FurrEver Home!

Miss Mary has found her forever home!  Carrie K., one of our sweet volunteers who has fostered her for the past couple of weeks, decided they HAD to adopt her.  She and her family have fallen completely in love with Miss Mary & couldn’t imagine their household without her!

She’s being completely spoiled & has made herself right at home.  I’m so very happy for her!  She will have so much love & attention with Carrie’s family for the rest of her life!

I’ve had so many visitors and volunteers both ask why in the world she hadn’t been adopted long ago with her sweet disposition.  I have no idea!  She came to us in February & watched several of her kitty friends find their forever homes while she stayed behind each time.  But that never put a damper on her personality.

She was waiting.  She hadn’t found “The One” yet.  But she knew they would walk through the door soon.  And she would know that human was her’s.

When Carrie took her to see the vet a couple of weeks ago, she was already weaving her kitty magic.  Carrie admitted to me the minute she walked out of the doors with Miss Mary, she was keeping her.  She just tried to deny it to everyone else for a few days.  That would be me my M.O..  Totally.

Miss Mary has 2 kitty housemates & is adjusting to Carrie’s 2 dogs – which, as we know she hasn’t been particularly fond of in the past!  Not surprising, since she was abandoned with her newborn kittens – left outside in a cardboard box while she tried to keep her babies safe from predators (dogs) and not freeze to death.   We have no idea what else she and her babies may have endured before they were abandoned.

Even after surviving such a cruel act of abuse, Miss Mary has always been such a sweet & friendly girl.  The Ten Lives Club volunteer who fostered Miss Mary & her sweet babies until they were weaned and ready to find their forever homes, told me she was such a loving Mama to her kittens.  I don’t doubt that one bit!

Miss Mary hit the JACKPOT with Carrie’s family!

We are so happy for you SWEET GIRL!

Enjoy your new life & the loving home you deserve so very much!

THANK YOU CARRIE & CHELYNN FOR YOUR TRUE DEDICATION, COMPASSION & LOVE FOR THE KITTIES!

This Black & White Beauty is CHEVON!

Chevon - 7 Yr. Old Female

Chevon – 7 Yr. Old Female

Chevon is another poor baby who was surrendered by her previous owner after living in the only home she had ever known for almost 7 yrs.  😦  She needs a Purr-Parent who can be her personal “red dot” trainer so she can shed a few unhealthy pounds!  Chevon is a quiet, sweet girl who has just gotten too used to laying around & sleeping all day.  Any girl will put on the pounds that way!

Chevon would be a good fit for any household.  Maybe one with a kitten or younger kitty that will keep her busy!
